In this episode, Linda invites listeners to share their experiences in educating employees about policy issues affecting the success of the company and employee job security. She emphasizes her belief that employers are uniquely qualified to educate employees on such matters because legislation, regulation, and taxation have huge impacts on business. Business drives the economy, funds government, and feeds families. If more people understood this, they would vote for policies – and people – that promote business growth, not government growth. Limited government, free enterprise, and individual freedom and responsibility has been the formula for the success of nations and individuals. Big government eventually chokes out business growth and individual freedom and prosperity. Listen to learn how you can promote business friendly policies and how may receive a 20% discount on the Breakroom Economics® online course.

Linda J. Hansen:  Welcome. Thank you for tuning in to this episode of the Prosperity 101® Breakroom Economics Podcast. My name is Linda J. Hansen, your host and the author of Prosperity 101®- Job Security Through Business Prosperity: The Essential Guide to Understanding How Policy Affects Your Paycheck, and the creator of the Breakroom Economics Online course, the book, the course and the entire podcast library can be found on Prosperity101.Com. I seek to connect boardroom to break room and policy to paycheck by empowering and encouraging employers to educate employees about the public policy issues that affect their jobs. My goal is to help people understand the foundations of prosperity, the policies of prosperity, and how to protect their prosperity by becoming informed, involved, and impactful. I believe this will lead to greater employee loyalty, engagement and retention, and to an increased awareness of the blessings and responsibilities of living in a free society. Listen each week to hear from exciting guests and be sure to visit Prosperity 101.com.

Linda J. Hansen: Thank you for listening. It is not often I do a solo episode, and I just did one to celebrate the milestone of 200 episodes. But today I'm doing a solo episode again because I want to ask you, the listener, several questions. I hope you will take time to share your thoughts with me by visiting the website Prosperity 101.com and sending a message in response to this episode. If you are a regular listener, you know my heart is to empower employers to share with employees the impact of public policy on jobs and paychecks. I believe employers are uniquely qualified to speak about this because legislation, regulation, and taxation have huge impacts on business.

Every employer knows what I'm talking about, but employees may not. Critical thinking has not been emphasized in most of our public schools for decades now, and the teaching of civics and basic free enterprise economics has largely been omitted as well. As a result, we have a workforce that is unaware of how public policies actually impact their daily life. If you have ever owned or managed a business, you know firsthand the effects of public policy on your company. With every new tax regulation, licensing, rule, or law, your business must adapt and refocus to meet government demands. This is often costly, inefficient, and destructive to your bottom line.

Business drives the economy. It funds government and feeds families. If more people understood this, they would vote for policies and people that promote business growth, not government growth. Limited government, free enterprise and individual freedom and responsibility has been the formula for the success of nations and individuals. Big government eventually chokes out business growth and individual freedom and prosperity. Government has nothing until we, the taxpayers, give it to the government first.

Too many people believe the government has a bottomless pit of money to fund every sort of handout, subsidy, or welfare program that has become the pet project of the media and elites to promote. However, you and I know this is not the case when we have more people taking from government than those that are paying into government. We have a government and a country ready to collapse.

We are at that point now, and our nation is truly at risk. I'd like to hear from you, my listeners, and I'd like you to tell me how you try to educate your employees on the importance of business friendly policies to the security of their job. I'd also like you to tell me what holds you back from talking about such issues in the workplace.

Is it fear? A lack of appropriate resources? I know many employers think such conversation is political. In reality, all policy is political because policies are decided by elected officials chosen by the people. However, all conversations do not have to be partisan, which is what I think most people are afraid of and want to avoid. But facts are facts. Economic reality is economic reality. Government may print money out of thin air, but business cannot. Nor can the people across the nation who work desperately to provide for the needs of their families. As noted economist Dr. Art Laffer often says, when you tax something more, you get less of it. When you tax something less, you get more of it. It's not rocket science, but the elites would like you to believe it is too complicated for you to understand. It's not.

And if you own or run a business, or even if you are simply raising a family, you know what I'm talking about, I'm sure. On this podcast I've brought on a variety of guests to discuss many, many issues impacting our society today. Taxes, the economy, the border crisis, human trafficking, election integrity, religious freedom, judicial integrity, truth in media, better health and life affirming issues energy and land use government overreach, national sovereignty and security, personal responsibility, faith at work, workplace culture and care navigating cancel culture resiliency in your personal and professional life, and so much more.

In each episode, I have tried to help listeners connect the dots on how each issue affects their own life, as an employer, employee, or simply as a citizen. Today, I want to hear from you, the listener. Tell me how you share facts about these issues in the workplace. If you do not regularly share, tell me that too. Let me know how I could be most helpful for you to do so. Prosperity is not just about money.

I believe true prosperity allows for human flourishing and freedom. I know the Breakroom Economics online course featured on our website, Prosperity 101.
